Baseball stars coming to Hazleton for annual Maddon holiday event

■ Dec. 17, 5 p.m., press conference, Hazleton One Community Center, by invitation only.

The press conference will be followed by an exclusive “Fireside Chat” with Maddon, a three-time manager of the year, Cubs’ great Rick Sutcliffe and Tim Kurkjian. Advance tickets are required.

■ Dec. 18, 6 p.m., Maddon and HIP’s fifth annual holiday banquet, Genetti’s Ballroom.

Maddon, Ramirez, Cardenal, former Dallas Cowboys star Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Bean and the rest of the stars at a one-of-a-kind, sports-themed evening of fun.

A huge silent auction of sports memorabilia along with a unique wine raffle will be held. Tickets are available.

■ Dec. 19, 7 p.m., Hazleton’s Kids Have Talent, Alice C. Wiltsie Performing Arts Center at the Historic Castle.

An evening of outstanding music and dance entertainment provided by the most talented kids from the area.

■ Dec. 20, noon to 3 p.m., Maddon’s fifth annual Thanksmas, Hazleton One Community Center.

Maddon’s famous spaghetti and meatballs, pierogies, “jerk” chicken and roasted pork provide a varied and delicious meal for some of the area’s neediest citizens.

The meal is open to all economically disadvantaged families. No tickets are required.
